The buildings comprising Purchase College’s “Heritage Site” consist of five independent wood frame structures built in the early 20th century, which now, collectively, serve as the Administration Facility.
The main mansion (a.k.a. the Administration Building), built in the early 1900s, now houses Admissions, Business Affairs, Finance/Administration, Purchasing, and Public Affairs. The three buildings flanking it house Capital Facilities Planning (a.k.a. the Business Annex) and Human Resources (a.k.a. the Admissions Office, which is now in the Administration Building); plus the former kennel, now used for storage. The fifth building is the original estate’s gatehouse, which is currently unoccupied.
The scope consisted of evaluating the conditions of the existing Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems (MEP) for the Heritage Site buildings, and providing recommendations for addressing existing deficiencies and / or code violations.
Each Building operates on its own and is not connected to the campus wide central plant distribution system for mechanical services.
While the MEP systems in each facility vary in terms of their condition, they are approaching the end of their useful economic lives and will require replacement in the not-too-distant future.
