Collado Engineering provided a Master Plan assessment of the existing Viacom Data Center located in Secaucus, New Jersey. The assessment consisted of the review of the existing mechanical and electrical system configurations based on the existing conditions drawings, equipment lists and equipment cuts/shop drawings provided by the client. The systems reviewed included cooling towers, pumps, dry coolers, computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, distribution piping, electrical service, emergency generator, UPS and distribution systems.
We verified by visual survey and had discussions with on-site staff the incorporation of any recent upgrades/redundancy added to the MEP systems. Based on this information we developed the updated existing conditions drawings (as-builts).
The existing MEP system capacity and current loading were analyzed to determine the spare capacity available on each system. The utility bills were reviewed from the past 12 months. The integrated Data Center mechanical and electrical support systems were studied. The study looked at the “capacity match” between systems and provided recommendations on the system reinforcement required to support the anticipated growth of the Data Center loads.
CE provided a Master Plan Report summarizing the findings and recommendations which were presented to Viacom. The required upgrades agreed and implemented in a two-phase approach and formed the basis for the long term upgrade and growth of the Data Center.
